I illustrated concepts for a variety of new products, initial prototypes, and completed all drawings for mass-produced inventories. I eventually realized sitting behind a computer was not the right move for me and accepted a tattoo apprenticeship north of Indianapolis. Amy Sedaris Five Dollar Crafts and Drafts Night

I'm not gonna lie. We've been waiting to throw this event our whole lives.

Here it is. We love Amy Sedaris like Seal loves a kiss from a rose on a grave.

We want to craft with you.

This is not fine art. It's crafts.

If we are being really transparent we would even say that this book is what started Hali and Tricia's art careers.

A bad divorce gave birth to buying this book as a distraction. The crafting from her books was the gateway drug to what would ultimately become our lives as artists.

But in the end, it's about Amy Sedaris and her irreverence towards normalcy, all things expected, unglittered and expensive. This is crafting for poor people and it's brilliant.

Get ready to make and take crafts. I. E. Jesus matchstick holders, macaroni and bean art, masks of the world.

If you don't like these ideas, we don't care and we will be at Rhapsody on the 19 Crafting with or without you.

Cash bar. Open Hearts. Glitter Sticks. See you there.

*If you purchased tickets for the last Amy night and you were unable to attend due to the weather, you may use those for this event.

More about J and J:

John C. Kelty:
Bitten by the plein air bug watercolor artist John C Kelty strives to create an atmosphere through the inclusion of human elements and the use a personal caligraphy of brushstrokes. The result is a visual narrative that captures a moment in time. Painting on location has given his work a freshness and spontaneity that was missing in the studio.

John was born and raised in New Haven Indiana as one of thirteen children. He attended the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne Indiana and graduated with a degree in Commercial Art. He went on the work in the printing industry in many capacities for the next twenty years.
He works exclusively in watercolor and exhibits locally at many show. He is a member of the Watercolor Society of Indiana, the AmericanWatercolor Society, the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association and is the past president and current boardmember of the Fort Wayne Artists Guild.

Jeremy Stroup:
Jeremy Stroup is an artist based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He graduated from IPFW in 2014 with a BFA in studio art, specializing in sculpture.

Currently, Jeremy produces a series of large scale drawings and collages of a broad variety of subjects, with an appreciation for religious, mythological, and archetypal themes. His most recent works explore biblical and mythological stories that resonate from his past culturally. He describes the process as a meditation on a story, the symbols it contains, and the people who have kept and valued it for generations.

Jeremy's work is vivid and decorative, drawing inspiration from many different cultures. He cites a long list of sources, such as: illuminated manuscripts, Ukiyo-e woodcuts from Japan, European and Arabic architecture, modern and retro science fiction illustration, and the surrealist movement such as: Paul Klee, Rene Magritte, and Remedios Varo.

Jeremy's main focus is honing his skills as he practices his craft, allowing the process to form a style for itself.

Rhapsody Presents: A Screening of "Peace Love and Zoo"

This is your chance if you missed it at the Fort Wayne Cinema Center to catch a screening of this inspiring film based on the life of an artist, Zoo Cain.

PEACE, LOVE & ZOO brings us into the world of Portland’s Local Guru, resident “Mad Artist,” recovery advocate, Zoo Cain. PEACE, LOVE & ZOO tells the inspiring, colorful story of Zoo Cain, whose dedication to art and service to others is truly astounding. It is also his therapy. Having lived as a severe addict for decades, he is now in his 25th year of sobriety, rife with challenging chasms and spiritual enlightenment. It’s easy to make assumptions about Zoo when you meet him. Most people know him as the AA guru, the License Plate guy, the wild hippie dancer, the guy who wears shorts in the winter, the prolific writer, the artist who is fighting cancer (and is currently in remission), the dad whose son and daughter are fighting battles of their own. This vibrant documentary will help to bring Zoo into the national spotlight and inspire others with his incredible service work to the community, his art, and all the colorful pieces that make up the mosaic that is Zoo Cain. Unrated. 74 Min. -Cinema Center

All ticket sales to this event will be going the chairty of Zoo's choice and we will be featuring some of Zoo's paintings at this event!

Doors open at 6 pm to mingle and settle in.
The movie goes on at 7 pm.

Thanks to Sweet So Geek for lending us their movie projector and Marsi Lawson for making this night possible.

Snacks and great memories will be provided!
